Study on sustainable heating solutions in the Tsarkva neighbourhood of Pernik, Bulgaria

The task was assigned to BSERC by Za Zemiata/CEE Bankwatch Network as part of the Repower the Regions project, funded by the LIFE programme of the European Union.

The specific objectives of the assignment are:

  • To conduct a technical analysis of the heating methods currently used in the building stock of Pernik, with a particular focus on the Tsarkva neighbourhood, in order to identify viable solutions for district heating (or alternative methods) based on renewable energy sources.
  • To support local, public, and state authorities in making more informed decisions regarding the implementation of a sustainable, environmentally friendly, efficient, cost-effective, and reliable heating strategy for the Tsarkva neighbourhood.
